Toyota Alabama supplies engines to seven Toyota manufacturing sites in North America. Engines built at the site power the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, RAV4, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma, and Tundra. With much of the automotive industry slowly transitioning to battery-electric vehicles, employees at the plant can rest easy knowing their jobs are secure.
“Toyota has been a bedrock company within Alabama’s growing auto industry for over two decades, launching multiple expansions that have increased the Huntsville facility’s production capabilities and its superb workforce,” Governor Kay Ivey said. “This new investment project will build on the great legacy of Toyota’s Alabama engine plant and create even more new opportunities for the area’s citizens.”
This engine plant isn’t the only important facility Toyota operates in Huntsville, Alabama. In 2021, the manufacturer opened a massive production facility in the town alongside Mazda. The site currently builds the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-50 and employs 4,000 people.
