The Volvo S60 is a sexy Swede that largely flies under the radar. However, the sedan is finally getting the attention it deserves.
May sales skyrocketed 281.3% from last year to hit 1,365 units. This wasn’t just a fluke as year-to-date sales are up 255% to 7,781 units, which is a huge increase from the 2,192 units moved a year ago.

The jump in sales meant the S60 was Volvo’s fourth best-selling vehicle in the United States last month. It finished behind the XC60, XC90, and XC40.
It’s not immediately clear what caused the increase in sales, but the 2024 Volvo S60 starts at $43,645 and features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 247 hp (184 kW / 250 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 6.4 seconds.
Volvo Cars U.S. Sales
While S60 sales are through the roof, consumers have pulled the plug on the C40. Volvo only sold 91 units in the United States last month and that’s an 89.1 % drop from a year ago, when they moved 832. Even worse, the company has only sold 491 C40s through the first five months of the year.
The electric crossover coupe begins at $54,895 and has an 82 kWh battery pack as well as a rear-mounted motor developing 248 hp (185 kW / 251 PS). This setup enables the model to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.9 seconds and have a range of up to 297 miles (478 km). Customers can also opt for a dual-motor all-wheel drive variant, which offers 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS) for just $1,750 more.
Overall, Volvo sales fell 5.3% in the United States last month to 10,153 units. However, year-to-date sales are up 10.4% compared to 2023.
