- Following the debut of the SU7 electric sedan, Xiaomi is now developing its second model, an SUV.
- Codenamed MX11, it’s expected to debut next year, offering both EV and range-extender options.
- Renderings based on prototype sightings attempt to give us an idea of the production model.
Xiaomi may be a new player in the automotive space, but following the roaring success of the SU7 electric sedan, it is hard at work developing its second model, taking the form of an SUV. A few days ago, the first prototype of the new model was spotted covered in camouflage, leading to a series of renderings of the upcoming EV.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the Xiaomi SUV is its similarity in shape to the sedan. Instead of completely overhauling the car’s design and making it significantly larger, Xiaomi has opted to create a model that strikes a balance between a sedan and an SUV, similar to the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Ferrari Purosangue.

As such, these renderings depict the Chinese brand’s second EV with a design similar to the sedan but lifted slightly. The design also borrows more than a few elements from the Ferrari Purosangue, just for good measure.
The first set of renderings have been brought to life by Sugar Design and are the most impressive. They show the front of the vehicle, which looks almost identical to the sedan, but with slightly more stylish split headlights. Adding to the sexy looks is a set of gloss black elements across the front.
Elsewhere, you will notice the gloss black fenders and black side skirts. Alterations have been made to the EV’s roof, so it now sits higher than the SU7. The rear quarter panels have also grown in size, and when viewed from the three-quarter angle, the similarities to the Purosangue are instantly obvious.

A second set of renderings were shared online by EET China. The model shown in them isn’t quite as slick and has a higher fascia, sharper lines, and fewer curves. Its overall shape is similar to Sugar Design’s creation, and like the SU7, it rocks a pair of curved LED taillights and a full-width light bar.
Xiaomi’s SUV is currently known as the MX11, but this name will change for production. It will likely be based on the same ‘Modena’ platform as the SU7, but reports from earlier this year claimed that it could get a new architecture and support a range-extender option.
