The owners of more than 2,400 freshly-produced Porsche Cayennes in the United States will need to take their SUV to a local dealer because the driver-side front upper left control arm could snap.
The Cayenne has been the industry standard for sporty and premium SUVs for many years. However, it is not impervious to quality issues and at the end of June, a supplier informed Porsche of a production anomaly related to the control arms of 2024 Cayenne models.

A recall notice issued through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reveals that no more than nine out-of-specification control arms may have been installed. These control arms could break under heavy dynamic load, leading to a loss of directional control, invariably increasing the risk of a crash. The supplier, Thk Rhythm Automotive, in the Czech Republic, may have used cracked raw materials in the forging process of the components.
Although just nine faulty control arms were supplied to the German automaker, Porsche is recalling 2,475 Cayenne models manufactured between May 9, 2024, and June 19, 2024. A field analysis has failed to uncover any incidents related to the fault.
Dealerships will be alerted to the recall on July 31, while owners will be informed by September 13. If necessary, dealers are going to replace all faulty upper left control arms free of charge.
The 2024 Porsche Cayenne S is fitted with a thumping 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that replaces the twin-turbo V6 of the 2023 model, delivering 468 hp and 442 lb-ft (598 Nm) of torque. That’s enough to send it to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and to a 169 mph (272 km/h) top speed. If you want to know what we thought of it, be sure to check out Stephen’s review.
