• Hohl Chevrolet is offering the Silverado EV with a $12,500 discount.
  • Other dealers offer the electric truck for thousands off as well.
  • Despite a cooling EV market, the move could pay off for these dealers.

12 months ago the idea of a brand new all-electric truck going for 20 percent off would’ve sounded ridiculous. Today, that sort of price slashing is a key component of increasing sales for some dealers. We’ve found at least three that are cutting thousands from the price of the Silverado EV including one that openly offers $12,500 off.

The biggest discount is at Hohl Chevrolet in Carson City, Nevada. It has 28 Silverado EVs and the vast majority have that $12,500 discount as of this writing. Interestingly, all of them happen to be the Work Truck trim with slight variations. The RST trim doesn’t benefit from the same big discount at Hohl.

The pattern is the same across the board from what Carscoops has found so far. Chuck Hutton Chevrolet in Memphis, Tennessee is also offering thousands off of the Silverado EV Work Truck. One example has a significant discount of almost $10,000. Many others at the same dealer have $8,000 price cuts.

A third dealer, Bomnin Chevrolet in Miami, Florida is offering several Silverado EVs for $7,500 below MSRP. This could be evidence that Chevrolet dealers are struggling to shift GM’s shiny new electric truck.

It’s interesting too that it’s just the Work Truck getting these discounts. Upon the launch of the Silverado EV RST First Edition, Chevrolet announced that pricing would start some $10,000 less than initially estimated. Dealers appear to be asking MSRP for them despite the big discounts on the WT trims. Notably, it’s worth pointing out that these figures are only what the dealers advertise online.

Could they slap scammy junk fees on these trucks the moment you roll in, as other dealers have in the past? Sure. Could the RST First Edition models have gigantic markups not disclosed online? Wouldn’t be the first time. Ultimately, it seems as though the market is sort of returning to the way it was several years ago and potential Silverado EV WT customers might be able to get a great deal out of it.
