• Acura attributes TLX and Integra sales declines to changes at its Ohio Plant.
  • The company sold 64,015 vehicles in the U.S. during the first half of the year.
  • Sales of the RDX have recorded a significant increase of 28.4% year-to-date.

Acura’s U.S. sales are in a rough patch. Year-to-date figures show a significant decline of 13.1% compared to the same period last year. This downward trend intensified in June, with sales dropping by a hefty 21.4%.

While the company boasts a 10.8% increase in Q2 sales compared to Q1, year-to-date figures paint a different picture. Acura has sold 64,015 vehicles in the first half of 2024, a significant drop from the 73,642 delivered during the same period last year. Notably, all Acura models except the RDX have experienced sales dips

Sales of the Acura TLX and Integra have been particularly hard hit in 2024. Compared to the same period last year, TLX sales have plummeted by a significant 55.6%, with only 4,211 units finding new homes compared to 9,482. The recently launched Integra has also seen a decline of 17.4%, with sales dropping from 16,514 to 13,638 units.

Last month, Acura informed Carscoops that these declines were due to a “significant reconfiguration” of the Marysville Auto Plant, where both the TLX and Integra are assembled. This major undertaking involved consolidating assembly lines 1 and 2 into a single line.

The end of production of the Acura ILX and NSX also means that no examples of these two models have been sold this year, while seven units were sold through the first half of 2023. Acura’s best-selling model, the MDX, hasn’t been immune to the decline either, experiencing a 19.6% drop in sales. Year-to-date figures show 25,694 MDX units sold compared to 31,964 units in the same period last year.

Things aren’t much better when looking exclusively at June 2024 compared to June 2023. Integra sales dipped by 16.5%, while TLX sales plummeted by a staggering 76.3%. Even the MDX, Acura’s bestseller, wasn’t spared, experiencing an 18.2% decline. The only bright spot in June was the RDX, with demand falling by a more modest 5.3%.

Fortunately for Acura, there is a little bit of good news as sales of the RDX have jumped 28.4% with 20,134 units sold so far this year. Acura has also started selling the all-electric ZDX and shifted 338 units through the first half of the year, 255 of which were sold in June alone.
