• Brabus announced an “individualization” program for the smart #1 electric SUV.
  • The tuner offers exterior, interior, and chassis upgrades.
  • The add-ons are compatible with the smart #1 Brabus trim, which is the most powerful member of the range.

Smart collaborates with Brabus for the performance-focused trims of its models, including the #1. However, this didn’t stop the German tuner from offering a range of aftermarket options for the electric SUV, including exterior, interior, and chassis upgrades.

The Brabus Individualization program for the smart #1 starts with a more prominent aero package made of high-grade polyurethane. A more prominent splitter is combined with a new garnish for the bumper intakes, which the company claims “significantly reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds”. We find a larger rear wing and a new diffuser at the back, featuring Brabus branding.

The profile is upgraded with a new set of 19-inch Monoblock Z alloy wheels, matching the size of the stock units. However, Brabus also offers a 21-inch version of the same ten-spoke design in the “Platinum Edition” spec. The new shoes are nicely combined with sports springs, bringing the smart #1 closer to the ground by 35 mm (1.4 inches).

Moving inside, the tuner added a set of illuminated scuff plates bearing the Brabus logo and aluminum pedals. Finally, the black velour mats for the floor and the trunk sport red piping, matching the accents on the rest of the smart #1 Brabus interior.

The individualization program doesn’t include any performance upgrades, since the stock electric powertrain is already powerful enough to justify the angry looks of the SUV. The dual electric motors produce a combined 422 hp (315 kW / 428 PS) and 543 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque, allowing the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint to be completed in 3.9 seconds. The hot SUV has a 66 kWh battery pack, which is good for a WLTP range of 400 km (248 miles).

All of the aforementioned items are already listed on Brabus’ official website, with pricing available upon request. Most of them are exclusively available for the smart #1 Brabus, although some components could also be compatible with the lesser trims of the EV. It is safe to assume that the tuner will offer similar products for the smart #3 coupe-SUV and the upcoming smart #5.
