Following its debut in New Zealand a year ago, Ford introduced the Ranger Tremor in the Australian market, and its off-road upgrades. The Ranger Tremor inherits the beefier suspension and steering system from the Wildtrak X, combined with rugged styling touches and more durable materials inside the cabin.
The Tremor is based on the Ranger Sport, adding all of the important chassis bits from the Wildtrak X. These include the Bilstein position-sensitive dampers with external reservoirs, new springs, a heavy-duty power steering, and a more advanced full-time 4WD system.

Compared to lesser Ranger trims, the ground clearance has been increased by 26 mm (1 inch), and the tracks are 30 mm (1.18 inches) wider. The Tremor also gets the Rock Crawl drive mode from the Raptor, alongside the Trail Turn Assist and Trail Control (off-road cruise-control) systems.
Visually, the Tremor is distinguished by special badging, a steel skidplate, cast aluminum side steps, and a sports bar on the bed. It also rides on 17-inch Asphalt Black alloy wheels, which are shod in General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tires.
Ford Australia
The Australian model looks less basic than the New Zealand-spec Tremor, thanks to the LED headlights and honeycomb grille. Inside, Ford designers added the orange Tremor emblem on the seats.
Under the hood lies the familiar 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel powertrain, producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox and a full-time 4WD system – just like in the Wildtrak X.
The Ford Ranger Tremor is limited to 1,150 units for the Australian market. The midsize truck is priced at AU$ 69,690 (US$ 45,936), which makes it only AU$ 50 (US$ 33) more expensive than the regular Wildtrak with the same engine, and AU$ 6,300 (US$ 4,157) cheaper than the Wildtrak X. For comparison, the even more capable V6-powered Raptor costs AU$ 90,440 (US$ 59,629).
