- Genesis is reportedly cooking up a new Magma concept with an imposing footprint.
- The concept will likely feature a high-performance electrified powertrain.
- We created a speculative rendering of a hotter G90 Magma flagship.
Genesis has put significant emphasis on its newly-established Magma performance division, unveiling several concepts and production vehicles in recent months. According to the latest reports from Korea, Genesis has a big surprise up its sleeve: a rumored large Magma concept currently under development.
We don’t have much information about the concept’s design yet, but it will reportedly match the imposing footprint of the Genesis G90. The flagship sedan from the Korean brand measures 5,275 mm (207.7 inches) in standard form, with the long-wheelbase model stretching to a massive 5,465 mm (215.2 inches). To put that in perspective, the largest Magma model so far is based on the 5,005 mm (197.0 inches) Genesis G80 sedan.

According to a report from The Korea Herald, Genesis engineers are working on a dedicated chassis for the new concept. The key challenge is to infuse sporty driving dynamics in a vehicle with such a generous footprint. If the project is successful, this approach could be applied to future high-performance sedans and SUVs from Hyundai Group’s premium brand.
The Korean Car Blog reports that Mike Song, Vice President of Genesis, hinted at Magma’s future with the following statement: “The purpose of the Magma Concept is not to hint at a model that will be released in six months but to convey a message about pushing boundaries two to three years ahead. We aim to maximize Genesis’s dynamism by tuning and adjusting existing technologies and applying them to new vehicle developments.”

Genesis Magma Concepts
At the moment, there’s no word on the powertrain for the rumored concept. However, a high-performance electrified setup seems like a no-brainer. Genesis officials have already confirmed plans to integrate hybrid technology across their lineup in response to growing demand. The hybrid V6 in the Gran Racer Vision GT concept cranked out a jaw-dropping 1,540 hp (1,133 kW / 1,561 PS)—even a fraction of that power in a sedan would be tantalizing.
It is not clear if the concept will be a souped-up version of the G90 or an entirely different design, but we created a speculative rendering based on the production vehicle to to visualize it. Such an offering would be a worthy rival to the Mercedes-AMG S63 E-Performance, which churns out 791 hp (590 kW / 802 PS) from a plug-in hybrid V8.
Visually, besides the signature Magma shade, we added a sportier front bumper with larger intakes and carbon fiber inserts, combined with an extended ducktail spoiler on the tailgate. Furthermore, the chassis is visibly lowered, with a new set of 21-inch aero wheels borrowed from the recent G80 Magma EV concept.
We’ll be keeping a sharp eye on any updates about the upcoming Magma concept, awaiting confirmation from Genesis. Here’s hoping they bring even more high-octane models to the market soon.
Note: These independent renderings are off-the-record and unrelated to Genesis.
