Lexus has registered its strongest ever half year sales in the US, making 2024’s January to June period the most successful in 35 years. The upscale Toyota brand shifted 11.9 percent more metal in the first six months of this year than it did in the same period in 2023, deliveries climbing from 149,412 to 167,412 units.
SUV sales climbed 15.7 percent – though the marque’s best-selling vehicle, the RX, slid by 4.2 percent to 54,955 – but the real growth was in the automaker’s EV sales. Deliveries of electric models grew by 46.5 percent, meaning EVs accounted for a substantial 35.9 percent of all Lexus sales in the year to June.

Throwing a microscope on the figures reveals that in addition to Lexus overall sales and EV deliveries setting records, several models and model lines also reached new milestones. The NX had its best period yet in all its combustion, hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms, and the RX hybrid and PHEV and the RZ all set their own personal bests.
Toyota’s press release trumpeting the brand’s achievements also singles out the TX SUV for having its best ever H1 period. But it would have been hard for the TX not so set a record given that it wasn’t even available until fall 2023.
Lexus Sales Figures 2024 vs 2023
One Lexus SUV that won’t be celebrating is the little UX. Sales of the brands’s smallest, most affordable car slumped by 21 percent, to 6,802 in H1, while June’s figures showed a 29.1 percent decline over June 2023’s to just 718 units.
And there’s not much positive to say about the sedan numbers, either. Although sales of the mid-range ES grew by 1.2 percent in H1 to 19,558, LS deliveries were almost flat (up 0.2 percent to 1,214) and IS sales fell 8.7 percent to 10,149. Their coupe brothers fared better, RC sales climbing 11.8 percent (though to only 941) while the pricier LC pictured below grew 17.1 percent, finding 966 buyers in January to June.
