Remember the days when automakers couldn’t resist making coupe-like versions of their everyday models? Though that era feels like ancient history, relics like the impeccably preserved 1990 Mazda 323F pictured here act as pristine time capsules, offering a glimpse into automotive nostalgia for newer generations.
Despite being 34 years old, this Mazda 323F remains in showroom condition, with only 630 km (391 miles) on the odometer. It’s one of several cars from Heinz Macchi’s dealership in Switzerland, kept in storage for years after the owner’s wife and son passed away.

As a result, the car has never been registered since leaving the factory, making its next owner potentially the first to take it out on the road.
For those unfamiliar with Mazda’s history, the Mazda 323F, known as the Familia Astina in Japan, debuted in 1989 as a sportier variant of the sixth-generation, compact-sized 323/Familia. It featured a five-door fastback body style, pop-up headlights, an integrated rear spoiler, and full-width taillight clusters.
In 1993, it was succeeded by the curvier Lantis, but its distinctive taillights continued to live on in the Aston Martin DB7 until 2004.
This particular example of the Mazda 323F combines a light blue shade for the exterior with a matching color for the velour interior. Being the GLX trim, it came standard with manual windows, and a power sunroof. Under the hood, lies a naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, sending power to the front axle via a five-speed manual gearbox.
According to the listing on eBay, the 323F is currently located in Krakow, Poland. The asking price is €17,950 (about $19,500 at current exchange rates), which is a rather princely sum for a 34-year-old mainstream family car. Still, this vehicle has an interesting past and hey, it’s cheaper than a brand-new Mazda3, its contemporary counterpart.
For those looking to expand their Japanese car collection, there are two more never-registered vintage Mazdas offered on eBay, also originating from the inventory of the Heinz Macchi dealer. These are two examples of different Mazda 626 generations from 1983 and from 1986 respectively, currently listed for €19,100 ($20,670) each.
