The time for the Suzuki Spacia Gear to be renewed has arrived. The kei car retains the tiny footprint and crossover styling cues of its predecessor, adding more technology into the mix.
Predictably, the new Suzuki Spacia Gear looks very similar to the Suzuki Spacia Papa Boku Kitchen concept shown at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon. Despite the familiarity with its predecessor, the bodywork has been completely redesigned.

Compared to the Spacia and Spacia Custom models, the Spacia Gear features a unique face with round LED headlights, vertical slits on the grille, and skid plates, making it look like a miniature Jeep.
Besides the new nose and the redesigned bumper intakes, the Spacia Gear gets protective cladding on the profile, roof rails, and a new set of 15-inch alloy wheels finished in gunmetal gray.
Inside, the only difference is the trim, with the Spacia Gear benefiting from nature-inspired colors, water-repellent fabrics, and a durable cargo space cover. A nice addition is the heated steering wheel option and the extra USB ports for charging.
Suzuki will offer a range of accessories for the new Spacia Gear, including special decals, a roof rack, a retractable awning, a pet carrier, mosquito nets for the doors, and cushions that transform the interior into a double bed for camping.
The automaker didn’t reveal the technical specifications of the new Spacia Gear, reserving them for the formal debut of the kei car. The regular Spacia is available with a mild-hybrid 660cc three-cylinder engine producing either 48 hp (36 kW / 49 PS) or 80 hp (60 kW / 82 PS). In both cases, a CVT gearbox is standard, combined with 2WD or 4WD.
Pricing of the new Suzuki Spacia Gear will be announced at a later date. Among its rivals in the adventure-ready kei car segment are the Mitsubishi Delica Mini and the Daihatsu Fanto Funcross. Furthermore, those who want an extra dose of Jeep-style ruggedness can opt for the mechanically related Suzuki Hustler Tough Wild stablemate.
