• This 1992 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition is a replica of the cars used in the film Jurassic Park.
  • It comes with some Jurassic Park memorabilia as well as a clean title.
  • It’s suffered no dino damage in its lengthy past.

Jurassic Park is one of the most well-rounded and groundbreaking films in cinematic history. While the premise and story are ultimately outside of the realm of possibility, the movie did feature several practical effects. The 1992 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition calls back to one of the best and is going over the auction block now.

Stepping back from the movie-car portion of this Ford, it comes with a 4.0-liter V6, a four-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive. It has just 74,000 miles on the odometer and will head to its new owner with a detailed service history, a pair of keys, and even the original window sticker. In several ways, that’s quite the package considering this vehicle’s age.

What makes it really special though is how detailed it is as a tribute car to the movie’s tour SUVs. The exterior features the same exact livery thanks to a wrap and several aspects of the car have colored Plasti-Dip to finish the effects. A brush guard, tail light guards, and auxiliary lights, all mimic the cars that appeared on the silver screen.

At the same time, there are a few notable differences, most importantly with the roof of this car. Remember those practical effects we mentioned at the outset? One was a life-sized Tyrannosaurus Rex animatronic that had its way with a real Ford explorer on set. This example, currently at auction over at Bring A Trailer doesn’t have the glass roof that the movie car did.

In addition, and unsurprisingly, it doesn’t have the central infotainment system that the cars in the park had. Nevertheless, we imagine most folks won’t notice the differences unless they, like me, hold Jurassic Park in rarified air. Prospective owners can even get a detailed look at the life of this Explorer in the past since it has its own Instagram account, jpexplorer04.

Interested parties should head on over to the auction listing and plunk down some cash because I really don’t need Jurassic Park to take over my life any more than it probably already does. Please buy it and then let me ride around in it. I promise not to hop out while it’s slow rolling in a park.
