- Stellantis’ FCA US had a terrible second quarter as sales dropped 21% from a year ago.
- Virtually every single model posted a sales decline, although there were a few exceptions including the Jeep Wagoneer.
- The company is launching a new incentive that offers up to $2,000 cash back.
Stellantis botched things in America and the company continues to pay for their mistakes as second quarter sales fell 21% from a year ago. That’s a significant decline and sales fell from 434,648 units in 2023 to 344,993 units this year.
That’s a difference of 89,655 and the story isn’t much better when you look at year-to-date sales. Through the first six months of the year, FCA US sold 677,533 vehicles. That’s a 16% drop from the 802,975 units that were sold this time last year.

So what’s behind the shortfall? A drop in sales for virtually every single model that the company sells. At Jeep, Wrangler sales were down 17%, while Gladiator sales were off 24%. It also doesn’t help that the Cherokee and Renegade are dead.
Speaking of ghosts, Chrysler 300 sales were down 53% to 1,998 units in the second quarter. Dodge Charger sales were off 34% at 16,216 units, while the Challenger was down 11% to 11,480 units. Those numbers will likely continue to trickle downward as dealers work to clear out existing inventory ahead of the launch of the all-new Charger Daytona.
Elsewhere, Ram pickup sales plummeted 23% to 90,109 units while Pacifica sales dropped 16%. Durango sales were off 9%, while sales of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio also suffered.
Needless to say, the second quarter was brutal for Stellantis and things likely won’t get better soon. That being said, there were a few bright spots as Jeep Wagoneer sales jumped 107% to 16,734 units, while the Grand Wagoneer climbed 24% to 4,005 units.
Hilariously, sales of the Fiat 500X increased 7% despite being dead as a doorknob. As we reported last month, dealers were offering discounts in excess of $10,000 so hopefully those 153 buyers got themselves a nice deal. Speaking of Fiat, the 500 EV is off to a slow start as only 163 were sold in the past three months.
Last but not least, the Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale are still struggling. Dodge moved 4,299 units, while Alfa only sold 887.
Given the disappointing quarter, it’s not surprising FCA US announced a new Summer Select Inventory Bonus Cash campaign. The incentive program kicks off today and provides “up to $2,000 cash back across many of our nameplates.”
Besides announcing the incentive program, officials tried to paint the terrible news in the nicest way possible. In particular, the company touted the fact that they build four of the five best-selling plug-in hybrids in America. These include the Jeep Wrangler 4xe (No. 1), Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (No. 2), Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (No. 4), and Dodge Hornet (No. 5).
