The Ford Mustang has been hit with some hefty price hikes for the 2025 model year, and the flagship Dark Horse now costs as much as a Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Interestingly, only models with the 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated Coyote V8 have been hit with price increases.
Like before, the range starts from $33,515 for the Mustang EcoBoost and increases to $41,615 for the EcoBoost Convertible, $39,040 for the EcoBoost Premium, and $44,540 for the EcoBoost Convertible Premium. These prices include a $1,595 destination charge.

Those looking to pick up the keys to a V8-powered model could be in for a rude shock. The GT Fastback previously started at $44,455 but is now $47,055, $2,600 more than last year. Similarly, prices for the GT Fastback Premium and GT Convertible Premium have also jumped by $2,600 to $51,575 and $57,075 respectively. The Dark Horse model followed suit, with prices rising by $2,645 to $64,875, and the Dark Horse Premium now starting at $69,870, or $3,645 more than last year.
As impressive as the Dark Horse is, this price pits it directly against the 2024 Corvette Stingray 1LT, starting at $69,995, including a $1,695 destination charge. The Ford has a power advantage, with 500 hp, while the ‘Vette delivers 490 hp through its 6.2-liter V8. Despite having slightly less power, the Chevy can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds, while the Dark Horse needs at least 3.7 seconds. One thing going in favor of the Ford is that it offers a six-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic, whereas the Corvette is only available with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It’s not all bad news, as those paying more for a 2025 Mustang will get some extra equipment. For example, the 10-speed automatic is now a no-cost option, having previously been a $1,595 upgrade. Additionally, dual-zone climate control and leather/vinyl across the seats are standard on the GT Fastback.
But the prices of some options have been increased. For example, the Active Exhaust is now $370 more, at $1,595, while the optional Brembo brakes are now $300 more than 2024.
