- Dodge is recalling 3,750 Chargers and Challengers from the 2023 model year.
- The vehicles have misaligned seat back strikers that can prevent the left rear seat from locking into place.
- Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, adjust the striker.
Dodge is recalling more than 3,000 Chargers and Challengers as their left rear seat might not lock into the upright position. This poses an obvious safety risk to anyone sitting in back.
According to the government, the vehicles have a misaligned left rear seat back striker that can prevent the seat back from latching into place. The issue impacts 898 Chargers and 2,852 Challengers from the 2023 model year. The Chargers were made between June 24 and June 28 of 2023, while the Challengers were built between July 29 and August 16.

Dodge first became aware of the issue in July of last year when it was discovered the left rear seat back wouldn’t latch on some Chargers. The following month, Challengers begin exhibiting the same issue.
Fast forward to this summer and the company’s Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance team recognized a “build issue existed on certain vehicles.” This pushed them to conduct a voluntary recall.
As part of the recall, dealers will inspect and, if necessary, adjust the striker. Owner notifications are slated to begin next month.
