• Lincoln is gearing up to introduce the facelifted Navigator on August 15.
  • The model follows in the footsteps of the Nautilus and features a host of changes inside and out.

The full-size luxury SUV segment is booming thanks to a facelifted Cadillac Escalade, an electric Escalade IQ, and an all-new Infiniti QX80. It continues to pick up momentum as Lincoln is gearing up to introduce a new Navigator on August 15.

The company isn’t saying much about their latest luxury barge, but the model follows in the footsteps of the Nautilus and adopts an illuminated grille. We can also see two-tone wheels, familiar bodywork, and revamped Navigator badging on the doors instead of the front fenders. Out back, there’s a slender light bar as well as “LINCOLN” lettering.

The Nautilus-inspired design continues inside as we can see a new two-spoke steering wheel and a nicer center console. The latter houses covered cup holders, a piano key shifter, and a crystal control knob.

While Lincoln is playing coy, one of our readers caught a lightly camouflaged prototype in June. Those images revealed the model has a massive new grille that is flanked by slim headlights. They’re joined by a new front bumper, which features a rounded intake that spans nearly the entire width of the vehicle.

Little else is known about the model at this point, but Ford’s agreement with the UAW revealed plans for hybrid versions of the Navigator and Ford Expedition. Both will be built at the Kentucky Truck Plant and they’ll presumably echo the Ford F-150 Hybrid. If that’s the case, we can expect a 3.5-liter PowerBoost V6 developing 430 hp (321 kW / 436 PS) and 570 lb-ft (772 Nm) of torque.
