• Nissan has introduced the 2025 Altima, which no longer offers a 2.0-liter turbo.
  • The sedan is now powered exclusively by a 2.5-liter four-pot producing 188 hp.
  • There’s also a new Special Edition package that adds a host of goodies.

The Nissan Altima is rumored to be living on borrowed time and it’s being simplified in the wake of slowing sales. The biggest change is the elimination of the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which produced 248 hp (185 kW / 251 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque.

For 2025, the only option is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that develops up to 188 hp (140 kW / 191 PS) and 180 lb-ft (244 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an Xtronic continuously variable transmission, which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system for an additional $1,500 on most trims.

The other big news for 2025 is the addition of an SV Special Edition package. It costs $1,090 and adds body-color mirrors, a rear spoiler, a moonroof, and 17-inch alloy wheels with a gloss black finish. The upgrades continue inside with a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system, and a wireless smartphone charger. The package also adds faux carbon fiber trim, illuminated sill plates, and remote start.

Nissan didn’t have much else to say about the car but, as our tipster pointed out last month, the 2025 Altima SR gets a new bronze wheel option. They cost $670 and measure 19 inches.

Furthermore, the entry-level Altima S now comes equipped with an 8-inch infotainment system. It replaces the previous 7-inch display, so it’s surprising Nissan didn’t even mention it.

Pricing starts at $27,000, which is an increase of $630. On the bright side, customers will benefit from a new maintenance program that includes up to three scheduled oil changes.
