When you think of military vehicles what comes to mind? Probably anything other than a Tesla Cybertruck.

However, that’s the future being envisioned by Archimedes Defense and Up.Fit as they’ve unveiled the Sting. It’s based on the aforementioned pickup and is billed as an “apocalypse-ready” vehicle for government or civilian use.

The companies are working on three different versions, as they acknowledge the limitations of electric military vehicles in certain environments. As a result, the Sting Baja has a frunk-mounted “AMP Drive G125TM aviation-derived 800V genset” which can run on jet fuel, diesel or biodiesel. It’s capable of charging the Cybertruck – as well as other EVs – at up to 125 kW.

The Sting Baja will be available with an “off-road mod package,” which includes an assortment of undisclosed parts from Unplugged Performance. An optional amphibious package is also planned for the future.

Archimedes Sting Is A Military Tesla Cybertruck With A Jet Fuel Generator

For trips riskier than your venture to Whole Foods, there’s the Sting Protector. It includes the aforementioned off-road package as well as “bolt-on, bolt-off external offset steel armor plating.” The latter is capable of withstanding rounds from a 7.62mm assault rifle.

The Sting Protector is envisioned for individual, corporate, and government use in “moderate threat environments.” As such, it will be available with and without the generator.

Last but not least is the Sting APC, which builds on the Protector by adding IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and mine protection. Its steel and ceramic armor plating is also capable of protecting occupants from 14.5mm heavy machine gun fire. This variant is designed for “high threat environments,” although you’ll have to shell out extra for the generator.
