- A new report suggests the upcoming BMW M2 CS will have 525 hp.
- The car is also said to be rear-wheel drive and automatic-only.
- Production is rumored to last for less than a year, ensuring exclusivity and low volumes.
BMW introduced the 2025 M2 last month and it features an upgraded twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 473 hp (353 kW / 480 PS) and up to 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. That’s an increase of 20 hp (15 kW / 20 PS) and 37 lb-ft (50 Nm).
Thanks to the extra oomph, the coupe can rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in as little as 3.9 seconds when equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission. However, that’s likely a conservative estimate as BMW mentioned the same time for its predecessor.

All of this suggests the upcoming M2 CS will have over 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS) and now we might know the final figure. According to Bimmerpost’s insider, the model will be rated at 518 hp (386 kW / 525 PS) or 525 hp (391 kW / 532 PS) as it’s not entirely clear if they’re talking metric or mechanical horsepower. Regardless, that’s right around the previous estimate of 520 hp (388 kW / 527 PS).
Whatever the final number is, it’ll be a huge leap over the previous M2 CS which had 444 hp (331 kW / 450 PS) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. This enabled the car to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds, so we can expect the new model to be even faster.
The engine will reportedly be connected exclusively to an automatic transmission, which isn’t surprising as the manual M2 has a reduced output. The model is also said to be rear-wheel drive only and is slated to come equipped with a carbon fiber roof, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and wheels shared with other CS or CSL variants.
Production is slated to begin next August and wrap up the following July. If that pans out, the car would only be in production for 11 months, making it pretty rare. Of course, that’s fitting given its predecessor cost $83,600 and only stuck around for one year.
