• The SF90 Stradale was introduced back in 2019 and has spawned a Spider and hardcore XX version.
  • Ferrari is already working on a new model to replace the SF90.
  • Likewise, the new 12Cilindri replaces the 812 lineup.

It only seems like yesterday that Ferrari released the remarkable SF90 Stradale, a supercar with the power and performance to rival the LaFerrari hypercar. However, it’s been five years since the car’s launch, and the Italian automaker has decided now is the time to retire it.

Ferrari made the revelation about the SF90’s fate during its second-quarter financial release. It noted that deliveries of the hardcore SF90 XX Stradale commenced recently , but that the regular model, as well as the 812 GTS, have been “phased out.” No mention was made about the SF90 Spider in the press release, so it will presumably remain in production for the time being.

While the SF90 Stradale as we know it has been retired without much fanfare, Ferrari is working on a new model to replace it. We spotted this new version testing in August 2023, and while limited details about it are known, it could have the same powertrain as the SF90, albeit upgraded. If that’s the case, that would mean a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 working alongside a trio of electric motors.

Visually, the prototype we spotted looked almost identical to the SF90, save for a few changes. Despite that, we suspect the finished product will have some design elements from newer Ferrari models, like the 296 and 12Cilindri.

As mentioned, the SF90 Stradale isn’t the only Prancing Horse that’s been axed. The 812 GTS has also reached the end of the line. Ferrari added that deliveries of the Roma and 812 Competizione also decreased in the second quarter as they reach the end of their respective lifecycles, too.

The death of the 812 comes as no surprise as that model line has already been replaced by the 12Cilindri. A replacement for the Roma could be on the cards, but few details are known about it.
