• Ford says Bosch may not have properly installed o-rings on the fuel injectors during production.
  • The recall impacts a handful of Ford Explorer, Mustang, Escape, and Lincoln Corsair models.
  • Owners of impacted models will be informed of the recall from September 30.

It looks like a couple dozen 2023, 2024, and 2025 Ford and Lincoln models are lining up for repairs in the US. Turns out, their fuel injectors might be missing a couple of key components—o-rings and o-ring support discs. You know, the kind that prevents fuel from leaking and turning your engine bay into a potential bonfire.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), missing o-rings could lead to small fuel leaks that, surprise surprise, increase the risk of a fire. Ford is pointing fingers at Bosch, claiming their supplier might’ve had a little slip-up during production.

Owners of the affected vehicles might catch a whiff of fuel—inside and out. And if that wasn’t enough, they could find themselves stuck in the driveway, struggling to start up their ride thanks to those leaky fuel injectors

Fortunately for the Blue Oval, the recall is small and only impacts 24 vehicles in the U.S. These consist of 14 Escapes built for the 2023-2024 model years between June 27, 2023, and April 4, 2024, two Explorers assembled for 2025MY between May 31, 2024, and July 10, 2024, and five 2024MY Mustangs manufactured from July 31, 2023, to March 19, 2024.

Three 2023MY Lincoln Corsairs are also involved, built from October 12, 2023, to October 20, 2023.

Ford has told dealers to not demonstrate or deliver any new in-stock vehicles that are caught up in the recall. It will provide a complete Dealer Bulletin to them in the week of September 30, 2024, when it expects parts ordering information and repair instructions to be available. Owners of impacted Ford and Lincoln models will be informed of the recall from September 30, too.

Dealers will be able to resolve the issue by simply replacing the fuel injector o-rings and o-ring support discs. Owners who have already paid out of pocket to have the issue resolved will be compensated.
