This is the GWR, and it is the latest Porsche 911 restomod from the experts over at Gunther Werks. The car was presented at the recent Monterey Car Week in California, but among all the supercars and hypercars at the event, it slipped under the radar. Until now.
The breathtaking take on the classic 911 features a lightweight body made entirely from carbon fiber, allowing it to tip the scales at just 2,400 lbs, or 1,080 kg. Gunther Werks has overhauled the 993’s exterior design without going over the top.

To do so, it’s crafted a new front fascia for the sports car with a black splitter and enlarged air intakes. There’s also tinted LED daytime running lights and headlights, as well as a bespoke hood with air extractors. Gunther Werks has also fitted one-piece forged magnesium wheels with turbofan covers, a bold ducktail spoiler, a diffuser, and 3D-printed tailpipes. A LED light bar is also found at the rear.
Powering the GWR is not a twin-turbocharged engine like most other projects from the restomodder. Instead, the car has a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder that revs to 9,000 rpm and is good for 500 hp and 340 lb-ft (461 Nm) of torque. The engine rocks a distinctive throttle body, a new intake manifold, and various lightweight titanium components to make it as responsive as possible. A manual transmission serves as the perfect companion to this engine.
Extensive work has been done on the car’s chassis. The wheelbase is 1.1 inches (30 mm) longer than a typical 993, and double-wishbone suspension has been installed up front.
The interior is a work of art. It rocks a pair of carbon fiber bucket seats and a dashboard clad in carbon. Gunther Werks has also installed what might be the most beautiful Alcantara-clad steering wheel we’ve ever laid eyes on, complete with two gold gauges and a gold 12 o’clock marker.
Gunther Werks hasn’t said how much the car will cost, but we know just 40 examples are bound for the production line.
