Koenigsegg broke the lap record for homologated production cars at Laguna Seca with the Jesko. The hypercar lapped the track in 1:24.86, beating the previous record holder – the Czinger 21C – by 58 tenths of a second.
Predictably, the record-breaking Koenigsegg Jesko was in the Attack configuration, featuring the high-downforce bodykit. Koenigsegg’s Development Test Driver Markus Lundh sat behind the wheel for his first-ever run at the famous track in California. According to the press release, this was also the first time a Jesko was tested at the Laguna Seca Raceway.

Despite being new to the 3.6 km (2.2-mile) long track, Lundh exhibited his driving skills, taking the best out of the Swedish hypercar. The company published onboard video footage of the hot lap, which took place on Sunday, August 18. The Jesko Attack can be seen effortlessly eating away the straights and appears to be pretty stable around the corners.
Both the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack and Absolut variants are powered by the same twin-turbo 5.0-liter V8 engine, producing up to 1,600 hp (1,193 kW / 1,622 PS) running on E85 fuel. However, the Attack has a shorter gear ratio, a track-focused suspension setup, and a more aggressive aero package, prioritizing lap times instead of top speed.
The 1:24.86 lap time was confirmed by Racelogic. Koenigsegg CEO Christian von Koenigsegg was present at the event and congratulated the driver after the successful attempt. Hopefully, the team will test the limits of the Jesko in other tracks around the world, following the “accidental” record in the Gotland Ring back in 2023 and the latest achievement in California.
Other production models with impressive lap times in Laguna Seca include the Czinger 21C (1:25:44), the McLaren 765LT (1:27.50), the McLaren 750S (1:17.54), the McLaren Senna (1:27.62), and the fully electric Porsche Taycan Turbo GT (1:27.87).
