- Lego is celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Mercedes G-Class with a new Technic set.
- It costs $249.99 and consists of 2,891 pieces.
- Lego also offers a smaller G63 kit for $44.99.
Lego’s Land Rover Defender is a work of art but for those looking for something more German, there’s the Mercedes G-Class.
The 2,891 piece set commemorates the 45th anniversary of the G-Class and is a member of Lego’s Technic lineup. This means it doesn’t look particularly good, but there’s a focus on function.

That being said, the model is unmistakably a G-Class as it sports a rugged and boxy design. Besides slab-sided bodywork, there’s bulging fender flares, beefy bumpers, and a spare tire carrier. They’re joined by a ladder and a roof rack. Lego also noted the doors, hood, and tailgate are functional.
Speaking of which, the model has a ‘working’ inline-six as well as a gearbox with drive, neutral, and reverse settings. They’re joined by two locking differentials and a functional steering system.
The set costs $249.99 and Mercedes CEO Ola Kaellenius recently confirmed the model is available worldwide. It measures 16.5 inches (43 cm) long, 8 inches (20 cm) wide, and 8.5 inches (22 cm) tall.
If that’s out of your price range, Lego offers an 808 piece Speed Champions kit that includes a G63 as well as an SL63. It costs $44.99 and is more kid-friendly. However, the G63 is tiny in comparison as it measures a mere 7 inches (18 cm) long.
