- The updated GLS will have LEDs inspired by last year’s Concept CLA Class.
- Mercedes-Benz is also expected to tweak the front and rear bumpers of its big SUV.
- A revised grille could make the GLS look a little more subtle.
Soon after our spy photographers snapped the refreshed Mercedes-Benz GLS being put through its paces on public roads, a pair of intriguing renderings have been released that preview the SUV’s second facelift.
Mercedes-Benz has been building the current GLS since 2019, and in early 2023, it received a handful of updates, making it look a little more modern and bringing it in line with other current Mercedes models. Although we think the redesign did a good job of modernizing the SUV, it seems the automaker wants to improve it even further, and this is what it plans to do with the second facelift.

Crucially, as this will be a refresh rather than an all-new model, the changes are expected to be primarily cosmetic, with no major mechanical changes anticipated. Drawing on the latest spy shots, digital artist Kelsonik crafted these renderings for Kolesa.
The standout feature distinguishing it from the current model is the new headlights. These new units will incorporate Three-Pointed Star LED daytime running lights, as first previewed by the Concept CLA Class from last year and also tipped to be featured on the refreshed S-Class.
As is customary for refreshes like this, a new grille is also expected. The grille depicted in these renderings looks a little smaller than the current one and features two slim horizontal slats and a mesh with dozens of little stars. Some minor alterations have also been made to the front air intakes and the black shrouds used.
Further changes will be made to the rear of the GLS. The most significant, according to those renderings, are different taillights. While similar in overall shape to the current units, they feature more complex LED signatures, also in the rough shape of a Three-Pointed Star. A revised bumper also stands out and includes more chrome trim connecting the tailpipes.
CarScoops understands the second GLS facelift, including both Mercedes and Maybach variants. will launch in the middle of next year.
