- This BMW started as a 325Xi Sport Wagon, now with a 3.2-liter M3 engine and 6sp manual.
- A set of Bilstein coilovers and brakes from a Porsche complement the engine swap.
- Exterior mods mimic E46 M3 features, with flared arches, vents, and a carbon fiber diffuser.
There’s just something about fast, powerful estates, and just a few days after BMW unveiled the seductive M5 Touring, we’ve stumbled across a custom E46-generation M3 Touring that you could own. As cool as we think the new M5 Touring is, this creation is nonetheless quite interesting.
This particular Bimmer left the factory as a 325Xi Sport Wagon and was acquired by the seller three years ago. He then embarked on an ambitious project to transform the car into a one-off, and managed to source a 3.2-liter S54B32 inline-six from an E46 M3. It has also been fitted with the six-speed manual from an M3 and rocks the same upgraded front and rear subframes.

The M3’s engine has been upgraded and fitted with new JE pistons, rod bearings, and ARP head bolts. It also sports a Karbonius carbon fiber air box and a performance ECU tune, and while no horsepower or torque figures have been provided, we’re sure the inline-six sings.
Extensive upgrades have been made to the exterior of the 3-Series, allowing it to mimic the E46 M3 perfectly, but in estate guise. The bumpers are the same as the original sports sedan and it also features flared wheel arches and vents on the front quarter panels. A carbon fiber diffuser catches the eye, as do the 19-inch Forged Club two-piece wheels wrapped in Michelin tires. The body has been repainted in Silver Grey Metallic.
Thankfully, the seller didn’t install an M3 engine and transmission without making other supporting mods. Found at all four corners are Bilstein adjustable coilovers, Ground Control camber plates, polyurethane bushings, an H&R sway bar, and a carbon fiber front struct brace. Stopping power comes courtesy of four-piston calipers lifted from a 996-gen Porsche 911.
A look inside the cabin reveals the 3-Series has a pair of Recaro Sportster seats, AC Schnitzer pedals, an F90 M5 shift knob, a carbon fiber steering wheel, and new seat belts.
The Bring a Trailer listing notes the BMW’s chassis had 206,000 miles (~331,000 km) under its belt at the time conversion, while the M3 engine and transmission had 54,000 miles (~86,900 km). The car has been driven 13,000 miles (~21,000 km) since and is just begging to be driven more. If you’re interested, you have a few hours left to make an offer, with the highest bid at the time of writing standing at $38,500.
