- Powering this limited-run version of the fourth-gen Mustang is a 5.4-liter naturally-aspirated V8.
- Despite the car’s age, it shows just 10,000 miles on the odometer.
The Ford Mustang has been in production for six decades, and over that time, dozens of wild, limited-run versions have been released. One of our very favorites is the Mustang SVT Cobra R and a beautiful example is currently up for auction in the UK.
Like all other SVT Cobra R models built for the 2000 model year, this car is finished in Performance Red and features many dramatic aerodynamic parts distinguishing it from other Mustangs of the same era. The most striking of these new components is a fixed rear wing that looks like it’s been lifted straight off the set of an early Fast & Furious film.

Ford also built the SVT Cobra R with a bold new front lip, brake cooling ducts, and extended side skirts. It even has quad side-exiting tailpipes, just like a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen. These exhausts add at least 80 hp in cool factor alone.
But the magic of the Cobra R hides under the skin. Unlike the regular SN95 Mustang, the Cobra R is equipped with an independent rear suspension and rocks Bilstein shocks, Eibach springs, and new sway bars.
A production certification reveals this is #252 of the 300 SVT Cobra Rs ever built. Like all the others, it has a 5.4-liter naturally-aspirated V8 with aluminum pistons producing 385 hp and 385 lb-ft (522 Nm) of torque. Coupled with this V8 is a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Despite the car’s age, it’s only been driven ~10,000 miles (~16,000 km), and the seller has only added about 400 miles (~644 km) since buying it in 2017.
The car is being offered with the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a car cover. If you’re interested in adding it to your collection, head over to Bring a Trailer.
