• The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq N received several improvements in its home market.
  • The hot EV benefits from software upgrades and more standard equipment.
  • Highlights include an enhanced N Drift Optimizer and an expanded N e-Shift function.

Hyundai introduced a host of updates for the 2025 Ioniq 5 N in Korea, enhancing the functionality and desirability of the performance-focused EV, following customer feedback. While there are no visual or mechanical changes compared to the outgoing model, Hyundai applied software-derived improvements and added more standard features.

The highlight of the model year upgrade is the refined “N Drift Optimizer” system, which now offers 10 selectable stages of drift assistance, suitable for different levels of driving experience. Hyundai says that the system has gotten better at monitoring and judging drift conditions, thus being more effective.

The last stage – called Pro – minimizes the impact of the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and linearly adjusts torque so that the driver can “drift more freely”. Of course, this should only be reserved for the track, as with all drift-related systems found in modern vehicles.

The “N e-Shift” function with the virtual gear shifts has now been expanded to the Eco mode (it was already offered in Normal, Sport, and N modes). It also received “downshift memory” and “downhill assist” functions, with the latter working similarly to engine braking in ICE-powered vehicles.

A less notable change is the preparation sound of the “N Launch Control” system which is always on, even when the “N Active Sound +” is turned off.

Finally, the standard equipment of the Ioniq 5 N’s single available trim has been enhanced for the 2025 MY, gaining features like intelligent headlamps, walk-away lock function, interior V2L, second-row safety windows, and vibration warning on the steering wheel.

The EV retains the dual electric motor setup generating up to 641 hp (478 kW / 650 PS) and 770 Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque when the N Grin Boost is activated. The Ioniq 5 N already had the larger 84 kWh battery pack which was recently added to the facelifted Ioniq 5 lineup.

The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N starts from ₩77,000,000 ($57,678) in Korea, including the eco-friendly car tax incentive. Chances are that the new enhancements will reach other markets soon.
