- Volkswagen has teased the 2025 Taos, ahead of its debut on September 12.
- The facelifted crossover has a slender grille that is flanked by new headlights.
- The updated model will go on sale later this year and likely start under $25,000.
The Taos has quickly established itself as one of Volkswagen’s best-selling vehicles and it’s about to get a facelift. In particular, the 2025 model will debut tomorrow morning and go on sale later this year.
Volkswagen isn’t saying much at this point, but they released a darkened teaser image that gives us a look at the new front end. After cranking up the brightness, we can see a slender fully enclosed ‘grille’ that features an illuminated strip at the top. This design echoes an assortment of newer models including the Golf and Tiguan.

More notably, the crossover adopts new headlights with X-shaped accents. We can also get a glimpse of what appears to be a more aggressive front bumper.
While there isn’t much to see, spy photographers snapped a prototype earlier this year. It showed most of the updates will be focused on the front end, but it’s possible the production model could have additional changes including updated taillights and a new rear bumper.
The interior could also be revised and potentially follow in the footsteps of the facelifted Jetta. As you may recall, the sedan received a new infotainment system and modernized switchgear.
It remains unclear if there will be any powertrain updates, but the current model has a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder developing 158 hp (118 kW / 160 PS) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque. Front-wheel drive variants have an eight-speed automatic transmission, while all-wheel drive models have a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
We can expect to learn full details tomorrow, but the 2024 Taos starts at $23,995 before a $1,425 destination fee.
