• A production version of the Performance EV Concept is expected by 2026..
  • A three-row electric SUV is being prepared to compete with the Kia EV9.
  • The most exciting new EV will be a sports car similar to the discontinued NSX.

Acura has reported a 12% decline in sales across its range through the first seven months of this year, but a fleet of compelling EVs could steer it back in the right direction.

The sole EV in Acura’s range is the ZDX, co-developed with GM and using its Ultium platform. This model will be joined by a production version of the sleek Performance EV Concept, which Acura premiered during Monterey Car Week in mid-August. This new model is set to be underpinned by an all-new platform and is tipped to land in showrooms in either late 2025 or early 2026.

Auto News understands this model may serve as a replacement for the RDX, noting the current model could be updated for the 2025 model year and co-exist for a brief time alongside the EV.

Joining this new model in the Acura range will be a three-row electric crossover to rival the Kia EV9 and forthcoming Hyundai Ioniq 9. This model could land in late 2026 and may use the MDX badge, where it’ll be sold alongside the current combustion model. Acura previewed the model at a dealer meeting earlier in the year, but has remained mum on details.

However, it’s not an RDX-sized electric crossover or an all-electric MDX that will get enthusiasts excited. Instead, it will be an electric sports car. Acura’s global executive vice president confirmed the model last month, stating that it will be “an NSX-type of vehicle.” This compelling EV will launch in 2027 or 2028 and be underpinned by Honda’s 0-Series platform that prioritizes lightweight and thin batteries.

Other updates across its existing fleet could also help boost sales. Sales of the facelifted, fourth-generation MDX only started in May and it includes revised styling and an updated cabin featuring a large infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The RDX was also recently updated for 2025, while the TLX got a freshen-up last year. A new Acura ADX is also just around the corner and while it’ll initially be sold as an ICE, an electric version is in the works.
