The driver of an Amazon delivery truck has been fired after being accused of participating in an illegal sideshow event in Sacramento, near the retail giant’s warehouse buildings around the Sacramento International Airport.
Footage shared to social media in September shows the driver of an Amazon truck driving in a circle in the middle of a large intersection, believed to be at Allbaugh Drive and Metro Air Parkway. This intersection has been a popular area for sideshows since at least 2022, and as the Amazon truck loops around, spectators can be heard cheering the driver on and even jumping onto the back of the trailer.

While some publications have described the driver of the truck as “ripping doughnuts,” it doesn’t appear as though the truck ever lost traction. It’s also not clear if the driver circled around the intersection several times or simply entered it and was forced to do a U-turn because of the dense crowd of people. Whatever the case may be, the videos caught the attention of Amazon itself, which confirmed to The Sacramento Bee that the driver has been fired.
“The actions depicted in this video are unsafe and entirely unacceptable,” Amazon spokesman Sam Stephenson said. “The driver has been terminated by their employer and they’re not eligible to deliver on our behalf in the future.”
Sideshows like this have existed since the 1980s, but their popularity exploded during the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly in Sacramento. According to Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman, Officer Allison Smith, officers use a real-time crime center and helicopters to monitor and crack down on the illegal gatherings. Police also monitor social media to determine when a large sideshow may take place.
This isn’t the first time an Amazon vehicle has been seen at a sideshow event. Three years ago, a clip went viral showing a delivery van from the retailer attempting to do donuts in the middle of a large intersection.
