- The Audi on Demand rental car program is coming to an end on September 30.
- The service dates back to 2012, when it was originally known as Silvercar.
- Audi implied the service could eventually return as they specifically mentioned the “current” program is ending.
Audi has quietly announced plans to eliminate the “current” version of their rental car program. Known as Audi on Demand, the program traces its roots back to 2012 when it was then called Silvercar.
Silvercar originally focused on renting A4s and Audi made a $28 million investment into the company in 2016. The automaker acquired the firm two years later and rebranded the service as Audi on Demand in 2022.

With that little history lesson out of the way, Audi has revealed their rental car service will cease operations on September 30 and “no reservations will be accepted or honored beyond that date.” A message on the website went on to thank customers for their “understanding and continued support,” while implying Audi on Demand could eventually return at some point.
It’s not immediately clear what prompted the shutdown, but the dealer-backed service was available in Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Kentucky, and Massachusetts. The company touted app-based booking and same-day service as well as rental periods between four hours and 30 days.
While most attempts to check rates showed no availability, Audi North Austin is still renting out vehicles and the Q7 can be had for $108 per day. An A5 Sportback and Q5 Sportback were listed as unavailable, but they would have had prices of $88 and $110 per day.
These three vehicles appear to make up the rental fleet, which is interesting as Audi recently introduced the new A5 and Q5. The Q7, on the other hand, recently received a facelift and is due for a redesign in the near future.
