• The BMW X5 Edition 25 Jahre celebrates the 25th anniversary of the original from 1999.
  • The SUV is available in two nostalgic shades, with distinct wheels and loads of equipment.
  • The special edition will be produced in 250 units, reserved for the Canadian market.

BMW is marking 25 years since the original X5, codenamed E53, with a new limited edition of the current model. The X5 Edition 25 Jahre, restricted to just 250 units for Canada, boasts nostalgic colors and a distinctive spec. It’s a sibling to the X5 Silver Anniversary Edition for the US market, but with its own unique color scheme and wheel designs.

The Edition 25 Jahre builds on the 2025 X5 xDrive40i, merging elements from the xLine and M Sport models. It features black exterior trim pieces—including window surrounds, side gills, roof rails, and grille—from the M Sport package, while the bumpers and rocker panels with aluminum-style accents come from the xLine. Another highlight is the 21-inch Orbit Grey wheels, designed with a Y-spoke pattern reminiscent of the original 18-inch wheels.

Besides the cool mix and match from the X5 range, the highlight for the Canada-exclusive special is the two available shades, originating from the expansive color palette of the BMW Individual Manufaktur. Both the Oxford Green II Metallic and the Le Mans Blue Metallic were launch colors for the original BMW X5 back in 1999, and they look great on its modern-day descendant.

Those opting for Le Mans Blue Metallic will find Silverstone Sensafin upholstery inside, complemented by Poplar Grain Anthracite Brown Open-Pored trim accents. Conversely, Oxford Green II Metallic features a Coffee Sensafin interior paired with Fineline Stripe Brown High-Gloss trim.

As with the Silver Anniversary Edition of the SUV, the 25 Jahre comes equipped with the xOffroad Package, adding four driving modes for difficult terrains (xSnow, xSand, xGravel, and xRocks). The package also includes the two-axle air suspension for a variable ground clearance, a mechanical rear differential lock, additional underbody protection, and a dedicated xOffroad View screen on the infotainment display.

Standard equipment is pretty generous, as one would expect from an anniversary special. It includes heating function for the seats, armrests, and steering wheel, a Harman-Kardon audio system, the Parking Assistance Professional ADAS, and the best version of the BMW Curved Display featuring a head-up display and augmented-reality navigation.

The BMW X5 Edition 25 Jahre will reach Canadian dealers in the fourth quarter of the year. The limited edition has an MSRP of CA$102,500 (equal to US$75,327 at current exchanged rates), making it slightly more affordable than the US equivalent. Since the debut of the first generation in 1999, BMW has produced nearly 3 million units of the X5 at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina.
