- BMW’s Neue Klasse EV lineup will launch six models, but none look as good as this.
- Sugar Design reimagined the Neue Klasse sedan as a wagon, and the result is stunning.
- The Touring with angel eyes feels like a throwback but works perfectly for this design.
BMW is embarking on a brave new era of design with its Neue Klasse EVs, planning to launch six of them over the next few years. A pair of concepts have previewed this dramatic new design language, including a sedan hinting at the future 3-Series and an X3-style SUV. While they both look fine, neither is quite as striking or attractive as the Neue Klasse Touring from Sugar Design.
The talented designer first worked on turning the original Neue Klasse sedan concept into a station wagon late last year, but only rendered it from the rear. A full gallery has since been crafted in two flavors. Both have got us all worked up about the possibility of a stunning 3-Series-sized estate that channels some serious E30 nostalgia.

The two creations are nearly identical. However, the silver version in the photos ditches the angled LED daytime running lights of the concept in favor of four angel eyes. While these were cool a decade ago, they’re no longer particularly common, but we think they suit an estate like this absolutely perfectly. The red car has the same DRLs as the concept and looks like they are closer to what we’ll eventually get in a production Neue Klasse model.

Some more subtle changes were made in converting the original show car into a wagon. For example, Sugar Design has slightly lowered the height of the side windows, ensuring the base of them now sits flush with the shoulder line. Different wheels have also been added, together with black rocker panels.
The silver car has also been imagined with regular wing mirrors, while the red car has rear-facing cameras. Both have large panoramic glass roofs. While we wouldn’t go as far as to say a new BMW wagon that looks like this would be the best-looking car in its class, it’s certainly an improvement from where BMW’s designs have been over the past decade.
