- Among the parts offered are a carbon fiber rear diffuser and front splitter.
- Shoppers can also choose tailpipes made from a mix of titanium and carbon fiber.
- The 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged hybridized V8 with 717 hp remains untouched.
The new BMW M5 Touring is a heavy brute of a thing, tipping the scales at a massive 5,530 lbs (2,508 kg). Those keen to shed a little weight from the super estate now have a series of special M Performance Parts to choose from, although no amount of carbon fiber will be able to hide the car’s heft.
One of the biggest pieces offered for the M5 Touring is a two-section carbon fiber rear diffuser. It makes the rear-end of the car look that much more aggressive and can be paired with a set of unique tailpipe trims made from a combination of titanium and carbon.

If you improve aero at the rear of a car, it’s important to do the same at the front. As such, M Performance is selling a carbon fiber front splitter for the M5 Touring. It struts the fine line between being cohesive and perhaps a little too bold, but will no doubt appeal to some shoppers. It’s also far less obtuse than the rear diffuser and quad tailpipe set-up available for the M2, M3, and M4.
Other components developed for the car include M Performance carbon side sill extensions and optional Frozen Black side decals. There’s also a set of carbon wing mirror caps on offer and an M Performance aerial finished in aramid. Completing the exterior accessories is a carbon fiber fuel tank cap.
Buyers of the new M5 Touring also have some interior options. For example, four-piece floor mats with leather-look edging and decorative stitching are offered. An Alcantara and carbon fiber key case is another option, as are M Performance tire bags.
None of these accessories promise any performance gains, but as it is, the M5 Touring is already hugely impressive. The combination of a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and a hybrid system allow it to produce a combined 717 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, making it quite a performer.
