• Porsche has unveiled a one-off Taycan Turbo S, which features a color shifting paint job.
  • The unique appearance took nearly a year to develop and is the result of two Chromaflair paints being blended together.
  • The model recently embarked on a tour of Southeast Asia and will be auctioned off sometime next year.

Porsche Asia Pacific and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur have joined forces to create a one-off Taycan Turbo S known as the Celestial Jade. Created through the Sonderwunsch program, the model is a sight to behold as it features a special pigmented paint that changes appearance from different angles as well as in various lighting conditions.

Porsche said this mimics the “miraculous transformation” of precious gemstones. As they explained, “Over thousands of years, minerals in the Earth’s crust heat up and are subjected to great pressure before they crystallize and fuse together. Minor changes in temperature or pressure leave their mark on the rock, creating patterns of green, yellow, gold, white, and sometimes blue.”

While most paint jobs are pretty straight forward, this one took nearly a year of development as well as “very elaborate” preparation and implementation phases. In the end, Porsche blended two Chromaflair paints together and then spent around 80 man-hours applying them by hand.

The result is impressive as Chromaflair paints have tiny flakes that “consist of an opaque, reflective core layer of aluminum, which is then surrounded by a glass-like layer.” This gives them a color shifting appearance and, in the case of the Taycan, there are bright green, yellow and gold tones as well as hints of dark grey, black and blue.

Besides the unique paint job, the Celestial Jade has logos inspired by the mythical creature known as the LongMa. It combines a dragon’s head with the body of a horse and is “said to be of great power and strength, and an auspicious symbol bringing good luck.”

Elsewhere, the Turbonite accents have been replaced by carbon-weave components in varnished Carbon. They’re joined by Slate Grey and Englishgreen leather as well as a key fob painted the same color as the car.

The Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade will be shown at various locations in Southeast Asia before eventually being auctioned to support a “good cause” in 2025. There’s no word on which charity will benefit, but the winning bidder will receive a high-performance EV with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 939 hp (700 kW / 952 PS) and 819 lb-ft (1,110 Nm) of torque when using Launch Control. This enables the model to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.4 seconds and onto a top speed of 162 mph (260 km/h).
