- A sheriff’s deputy is getting a lot of praise after jumping into a moving vehicle in Michigan.
- The 63 year old driver was suffering from a medical issue and was largely unresponsive.
- The deputy was able to bring the vehicle to a halt and the man was transported to a nearby hospital.
A deputy from the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office went above and beyond as they jumped into a moving vehicle to aid a driver suffering from a medical condition. The incident occurred on September 12 and authorities recently released traffic and body camera footage of the rescue.
In it, you can see deputies responding to reports of a GMC Sierra driving erratically on Gratiot Avenue in Mount Clemens, Michigan. Despite the lights and sirens, the driver failed to respond and the truck continued traveling at approximately 5 mph (8 km/h).

This prompted deputies to pull up alongside the pickup, where they saw the driver in a “daze.” The 63 year old was “unable to comprehend” requests to stop, but eventually rolled his window down and briefly hit the brakes.
This enabled Deputy Miron to attempt a daring rescue as she climbed out of the passenger seat of the Ford Police Interceptor and into the moving GMC Sierra. While she had to crawl over the driver, she was eventually able to get into the passenger seat of the truck and bring the vehicle to a halt.
The clip ends there, but the Sheriff’s Office said the deputy contacted the man’s family and confirmed he had an undisclosed medical condition. He was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The video has now drawn quite a bit of attention and Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham praised Deputy Miron for “putting herself in harm’s way to help a citizen in need and protect other drivers on the roadway.”
