• The Honda HR-V benefits from a facelift, similar to the Japanese-spec Vezel.
  • Changes include a redesigned grille and improved NVH inside the cabin.
  • A self-charging hybrid powertrain with 129 hp is the only option.

Honda brought the facelifted HR-V e:HEV in the UK, mirroring the updates introduced earlier this year by its Vezel twin in Japan. The European HR-V remains exclusively available with an e:HEV self-charging hybrid powertrain in FWD guise.

Visually, not much have changed since the debut of the third-gen model in 2021. The highlight is the redesigned grille, giving the HR-V a slightly more purposeful stance. The front bumper sports revised lower intakes, while the lighting units feature darker internals and fresh LED graphics. Honda has also enriched the color palette, adding three new shades – Sage Green, Seabed Blue, and Urban Grey.

The new Advance Style Plus trim is positioned at the top of the HR-V lineup, adding a fixed panoramic glass roof, more body-colored accents, a Crystal Black grille, and a different set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, there is a carry-over digital cockpit with a 7-inch instrument cluster and a 9-inch infotainment. However, the lower part of the center console has been tweaked, providing easier access to the wireless charging pad and improving ergonomics. Other changes include the extra sound deadening material and the standard privacy glass. The SUV retains the signature rear Magic Seats that can fold flat or flip up – as in the mechanically-related Jazz/Fit hatchback.

Safety equipment has been improved with the addition of a Multi View Camera System and an enhanced Traffic Jam Assist function that provides steering support from a standstill.

The e:HEV self-charging hybrid setup comprises the same 1.5-liter i-VTEC petrol engine, two electric motors, a fixed-gear transmission, and a lithium-ion battery pack. The combined output is 129 hp (96 kW / 131 PS), transmitted to the front wheels. Unlike the Japanese-spec Honda Vezel, the European HR-V is not available in AWD form, nor with the non-electrified 1.5-liter engine.

Sales of the facelifted Honda HR-V e:HEV in Europe and the UK will commence in September 2024. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
