• This Atom features a fully-built Honda K24 four-cylinder with a massive Garrett turbocharger.

If you want a dedicated track car or the ultimate canyon carver, you could do what many would do and head straight to a Porsche dealership, picking up the keys to either a new or used 911. However, if you want something a little less conventional, and a whole lot faster, this heavily modified 2016 Ariel Atom 3S could do the trick.

Every Ariel Atom is special and for as impressive as the standard car is, the seller of this one has made a dizzying array of changes to it. These have started with the powertrain as the original engine has been removed and replaced with a turbocharged 2.4-liter Honda K24 four-cylinder.

The engine was then built with Darton sleeves, a ported cylinder head, Stage 3 camshafts, a CNC-ported Skunk2 Ultra Race intake manifold, and o-ring block seals. It’s operated by a Haltech Elite 1500 ECU with flex-fuel tuning and pumps out a monumental 633 hp and 392 lb-ft (531 Nm) of torque at the rear wheels. That’s a lot of power for a four-cylinder but Honda’s K24 is known to be hugely receptive to modifications and, when upgraded correctly, can easily and safely sustain these levels of power.

Mated to the K24 is a six-speed transmission that’s been rebuilt and is joined by a Wavetrac limited-slip differential. As for the wheels, these are 15-inch front and 17-inch rear Konigs with Nitto NT01 and NT555RII tires.

K24-Swapped Ariel Atom Could Be The Ultimate Track Toy

The listing also tells us the suspension has been overhauled with new Palatov billet uprights and bell cranks, JRi adjustable coilovers with H&R springs, and adjustable lower rear control arms. A set of slotted brake rotors and Alcon calipers are responsible for keeping you alive. Extensive work has been done on the Ariel’s aerodynamics and there’s a large rear wing, a carbon fiber front wing, and a new diffuser.

As you would imagine, the interior is very basic, but it does include a pair of racing seats with Sabelt racing harnesses, a 12-volt power outlet, a Sparco steering wheel, and a digital instrument cluster.
