• Lucid teased a new midsize crossover that will sit below the larger Gravity model.
  • Models built on the new midsize platform will enter production in 2026, starting under $50,000.
  • The Gravity will get a NACS charging port upgrade in 2025.

Lucid might be a fully electric brand, but their upcoming midsize crossover certainly looks gassy in a new teaser image. Unveiled as part of a special event in Arizona, the unnamed model will ride on a new midsize platform and slot beneath the Gravity.

Lucid isn’t saying much at this point, but the crossover features a curvaceous but bloated design. We can also see a flowing roof, a sculpted hood, and rounded wheel arches. That isn’t much to go on, but the electric startup said their midsize platform is scheduled to go into production in late 2026 and vehicles based on the architecture will start under $50,000.

Earlier this year, Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson shared details about the upcoming midsize models, one of which could rival the Rivian R2, noting that production will begin in Saudi Arabia, where the AMP-2 facility is already gearing up for these new vehicles.

Besides releasing a new teaser image, Lucid announced plans for its next-generation Atlas drive unit which is currently under development. It will power the company’s midsize vehicles and the EDU promises “enhanced value for Lucid and its customers.”

The company was coy on specifics, but said the drive unit is miniaturized and “more efficient.” The latter will enable them to use a smaller battery pack than competitors and this will presumably help to reduce costs. While that remains to be seen, the firm said their “proprietary software stack enables the full potential of the advanced drive units and provides powertrain controls including torque vectoring, traction control, and battery management.”

Last but not least, Lucid revealed the Gravity will be equipped with a NACS port in 2025. This will allow for access to Tesla’s Supercharger network without the use of an adaptor.
