• The Lynk & Co 01 SUV soldiers on in Europe thanks to a series of mild updates.
  • The highlight is the stronger and more efficient PHEV powertrain, producing 276 hp.
  • The SUV also benefits from mild exterior updates and a new 15.4-inch infotainment.

Lynk & Co introduced an updated version of the 01 in the European market, featuring a new plug-in hybrid powertrain and a revised infotainment.

The exterior of the Lynk & Co 01 looks familiar, as the changes are limited to a gloss black grille, new wheel designs, and revised LED graphics for the taillights. Furthermore, the color palette has been expanded with the addition of the new Crystal White, Sparkling Black, and Mineral Green Metallic options.

According to the company, the “subtle design refinements and color options” were inspired by customer feedback.

Inside, there is a larger 15.4-inch touchscreen (up from 12.7 inches), incorporating a new infotainment system. The latter runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, making it “significantly faster” than before. Lynk & Co designers also added physical buttons on the steering wheel, making life easier for the driver.

The plug-in hybrid setup of the Lynk & Co 01 has been upgraded with the latest available technology from the parent company Geely. The combined output is 276 hp (206 kW / 280 PS) and 535 Nm (395 lb-ft) of torque, representing an increase over the 257 hp (192 kW / 261 PS) and 425 Nm (313 lb-ft) of its predecessor.

The company didn’t go into specifics but the SUV is likely fitted with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine and an electric motor. Lynk & Co said that the 01 delivers “sharper acceleration and more responsive handling”, hinting at chassis upgrades.

Besides the extra power, the new PHEV powertrain also claims to be more fuel-efficient. The average fuel consumption drops from 1 to 0.9 lt/100km (261 mpg US), and the average CO2 emissions from 24 to 20 g/km – at least according to the relatively optimistic WLTP cycle. The zero-emission range remains unchanged at 75 km (47 miles).

The Lynk & Co 01 was originally introduced in China back in 2017, and received a facelift in 2021, coinciding with its European launch. The electrified compact SUV shares its CMA underpinnings with the Volvo XC40 / C40, the Polestar 2, and the Lynk & Co 05 coupe-SUV. The updated version is expected to go on sale in European markets in the coming months.
