- Skoda introduced a bulletproof Kodiaq with armor that meets PAS 300 standards.
- The SUV features bullet-resistant glass, reinforced steel, and emergency strobe lights.
- Designed with security in mind, it can withstand handguns, grenades, and high explosives.
Skoda introduced an armored version of the first-generation Kodiaq, developed by Skoda UK in collaboration with security experts UTAC Special Vehicles, featuring several modifications.
Interestingly, the armored special is based on the facelifted first-gen Kodiaq rather than the new generation that debuted last year. Exterior changes are limited to the strobe lights on the grille, bumper, and tailgate, as the goal was to look as similar to the production model as possible.

Inside, the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen has been transformed into a “communications hub” with GPS and special controls for the emergency lights and siren system. More importantly, the Skoda Kodiaq Armored features bullet-resistant glass, and “extensive modifications” to the passenger cell with the addition of steel armor.
Skoda engineers added uprated suspension and brakes, ensuring that the now-heavier SUV will retain the drivability and agility of the standard version. All four wheels are equipped with a tire retention system that prevents the tire from leaving the rim even when being fully deflated.
There are no modifications to the engine, with customers being able to choose from “a range of powertrain options”, including a 4×4 version.
Skoda says that the modified Kodiaq offers bullet resistance to “various handguns and assault rifles”, plus blast resistance to “grenades and high explosives”. It was designed to meet the PAS 300 and PAS 301 requirements of the Civilian Armored Vehicle standards
The certification required rigorous testing in payload, acceleration, top speed, handling, and braking. The SUV was subjected to more than 200 rounds of ammunition and proved its blast resistance on the side, roof, and underfloor.
The company has sold nearly 500 units of the armored Superb since its debut in 2018, showing there is a market for bulletproof Skodas.
