- Stellantis has confirmed an electrified Wagoneer will go into production before the end of 2025.
- The Ram 1500 REV will be built in Michigan and is slated to be launched late this year.
- A new 1.6-liter turbo will be made south of Detroit and used in hybrids launching next year.
Stellantis has announced plans to invest $406 (£311 / €368) million into three facilities in Michigan. They include the Dundee Engine Plant as well as Sterling Heights Assembly and the Warren Truck Plant.
A majority of the funding is going to Sterling Heights Assembly, which will build the Ram 1500 REV. The electric pickup was introduced at the 2023 New York Auto Show and will be launched late this year.

While the model will arrive behind key competitors, the Ram 1500 REV will be offered with massive 168 and 229 kWh battery packs. The former should enable the model to travel up to 350 miles (563 km) on a single charge, while the latter boosts that figure to 500 miles (805 km). When the batteries are low, a 350 kW DC fast charger can deliver 110 miles (177 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes.
The truck rides on the STLA Frame architecture and features a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing 654 hp (448 kW / 663 PS) and 620 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque. It will enable the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds.

Sterling Heights Assembly will also build the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger. The range-extended pickup has a 92 kWh battery pack that powers a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 663 hp (494 kW / 672 PS) and 615 lb-ft (833 Nm) of torque.
However, it’s more notable for having a 3.6-liter V6 engine that acts as a generator. It enables the truck to have a targeted range of up to 690 miles (1,110 km).
Moving on, the Warren Truck Plant is slated to receive $97.6 (£74.8 / €88.6) million to build an electrified Jeep Wagoneer. The company is staying tight-lipped on specifics, but revealed the model is “one of four Jeep EVs that will be launched globally by the brand before the end of 2025.”
In an interview earlier this year, Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa said the Wagoneer 4xe would borrow heavily from the Ram 1500 Ramcharger. However, the SUV is expected to have a smaller battery pack and a reduced range.
Last but not least, the Dundee Engine Plant is getting more than $73 (£56 / €66.2) million to make components for the STLA Large and STLA Frame architectures. The plant will also build a new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine.
It’s known as the GME-T4 EVO and will be launched later this year. Stellantis didn’t release many details, but said the engine has “direct fuel injection and flexibility for hybrid-electric vehicle applications that will launch in 2025.”
