• Photos of an abandoned Porsche 993 Turbo surfaced online, revealing its poor condition.
  • This air-cooled Porsche was stolen for six years before being reclaimed by its owner.
  • The vehicle is reportedly in Saudi Arabia and is set to be restored to its former glory.

Classic Porsche 911 Turbo models are fetching serious money in the used car market, making a seemingly abandoned example of the 993 generation a rather unexpected sight. The pictured model – reportedly located in Saudi Arabia – comes with the wild story of going missing for six years before being reconnected with its original owner.

The sad state of the Porsche 993 Turbo makes it look like a rendering project from a post-apocalyptic future. Unfortunately, these are real-life photos of the car, according to the poster.

The haunting photos were shared on Reddit by user Radwanalshehri, with the following description: “This car has a really long story, it was in really good condition until one day it got stolen and my friend found it after 6 years chilling in some old abandoned mechanic shop and he brought back home and now he’s planning to restore it which is really awesome!”

The post generated a mixed response from Porschephilles. Most of the commenters begged the photographer and their friend to move on with the restoration of the sought-after classic, and asked them to document the process. Others were more skeptical about the backstory, questioning how such an expensive piece of automotive history could go unnoticed in a “mechanic shop”.

The model appears to be parked under a ripped cover and has accumulated loads of dirt. To make matters worse, the interior is semi-exposed, with every inch of the leather upholstery being covered in grime and mold. We can also see a cracked rear bumper, suggesting it was involved in a minor collision.

Despite the bad news, the Porsche doesn’t appear to have any serious damage, making us optimistic about its restoration potential. It also has a lovely spec, combining a Wimbledon Green exterior with a Beige interior.

The 993 generation retains a special place in the hearts of Porsche fans, as the last of the air-cooled 911s. It was introduced in 1995 with a twin-turbo 3.6-liter flat-six, producing 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS). The 993 was also the first Turbo generation with all-wheel-drive system, and comes with a six-speed manual. Features like the wider rear fenders, sporty bumpers, and large wing, distinguish the Turbo from the rest of the lineup, making it even more desirable to Porsche collectors.

Hopefully, the neglected 911 will be treated with care, with the owner taking it back to its original shape. We have contacted the original poster for more information, and will update this story if they reply.
