- One suspect running from police might not have known exactly who he was running from.
- It turns out that Georgia has an elite high-speed task force and it chased this Durango down.
- Before the police could stop him, the Durango driver crashed the SUV.
Trying to escape from authorities is never a great look but some individuals manage to do it. Most, though, struggle to get very far at all. In some cases, that’s because they pick the wrong car. In other cases, it’s because they just can’t handle the power at their disposal. That appears to be the case in one chase that happened in Georgia on July 20.
Clayton County is due south of Atlanta and it’s home to the Blackhawks, a division of the police force that was specifically created to nab speeders. It was this group that evidently spotted a suspect traveling at near-triple-digit speeds on July 20. One of the officers went after the vehicle in question, a Dodge Durango SRT, but the SUV wouldn’t stop.

At first, the driver appeared to comply, moving to the far right lane and slowing down but before coming to a full stop, the driver guns it. Officers give chase and catch up almost immediately as both the suspect and authorities dip and dive in traffic. The video description below alleges that it’s the police report and says that speeds reached 140 mph (225 km/h).
The driver then attempted to merge from I-75 where the chase began to I-285. That transition requires the driver to complete a clover-leaf turn and according to the report, the Durango struggled to maintain traction. At the very end of the bend, the suspect evidently gunned it again, lost control, and completely ruined the SUV.
It first hits one wall and then bounces back to hit a second one. Bodycam video from the incident shows police arresting several individuals who were in the car. Of all the potential outcomes here this might be one of the very best. Not only did everyone escape uninjured, but the suspect essentially took themselves out of the equation without harming anyone or anything else – apart from their own SUV, that is.
