BYD unveiled an updated version of the Han in China, improving its underpinnings and adding more technology, while slightly reducing its starting price. The electrified sedan has been around since 2020, with a facelift following in 2022, making this the second major update.

Styling-wise, the biggest change is that the BYD Han DM-i (PHEV) now looks the same with the EV equivalent, bringing greater homogeneity in the lineup. While the bodywork is carried over, the company added a new Fashion Gray shade and a Black Sports package. Finally, the most observant will notice the roof-mounted LiDAR, hinting at the upgraded ADAS features of the model.

Inside, there is a new 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with a higher resolution. The Nappa leather upholstery is combined with real aluminum and wood accents, creating a premium ambience. Equipment can include front seats with a 10-point massaging, heating, and ventilation functions, plus an 775 Watt 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

Safety equipment has been enhanced with the BYD DiPilot 300 system, utilizing 31 sensors – including the LiDAR – and the Nvidia Orin-X chip for AI-defined cars. The chassis has also been upgraded with a new five-link suspension at the back, and variable damping technology for greater comfort.

The 4,975 mm (195.9 inches) long sedan is still available with a choice of PHEV and EV powertrains. The PHEV benefits from the improved, fifth-generation DM-i powertrain combining a single electric motor with a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The combined output is 416 hp (310 kW / 422 PS), allowing a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 6.9 seconds. The battery is good for an EV-only range of 125 km (78 miles), extending the combined range to 1,350 km (839 miles).

On the other hand, the EV gains a new 800V BYD Blade battery (instead of 400V), compatible with faster DC charging. According to BYD, the Han EV can add 160 km (99 miles) of range in 10 minutes of charging. Depending on the version, the CTLC range of the fully electric Han is 506 km (314 miles), 605 km (376 miles), or 701 km (436 miles).

In terms of powertrain, the single electric motor generates 201 hp (150 kW), 225 hp (168 kW), or 241 hp (180 kW), always sending power to the front wheels. Strangely, according to BYD, independently of the power output and the battery pack, all versions of the Han EV accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 7.9 seconds.

The 2025 BYD Han is already available to order in China. The PHEV is priced between ¥165,800-225,800 ($23,284-31,711), while the EV costs between ¥179,800-235,800 ($25,251-33,116). Despite the upgrades, the starting price of the PHEV is ¥4,000 ($562) cheaper compared to its predecessor.
