• Citroen will launch a new show car in Paris, alongside the updated C4 and C4 X.
  • The concept is described as an “illustration of a future model in a major segment”.
  • All signs hint at a new generation of the Citroen C5 Aircross, expected in 2025.

Citroen has detailed its product lineup for the 2024 Paris motor show, including a little surprise—a new concept that’s set to evolve into a production model. While the French brand hasn’t revealed the show car’s name, it’s likely a preview of the next-generation C5 Aircross compact SUV.

Citroen described the concept as a “highly expressive show car” with a strong presence. It will be “colorful and faithful to Citroen’s new design language,” which has already been introduced with the latest C3 and C3 Aircross models.

The automaker refers to this concept as an “illustration of a future model in a major segment”, possibly hinting at the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross. After all, compact SUVs are one of the dominant segments in Europe, and Citroen’s current proposal is in need of a major refresh having been around since 2018.

The market launch of the new C5 Aircross is expected in 2025, as a twin model to the 2024 Opel Grandland. The French SUV will ride on the STLA Medium architecture, which is compatible with fully electric, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.

As with the new Opel Grandland, the upcoming Citroen C5 Aircross is expected to grow in size compared to its predecessor, further boosting its appeal as a family-friendly SUV and positioning it above the smaller but recently enlarged C3 Aircross.

In terms of design, the new C5 Aircross is expected to have a boxier appearance compared to the mechanically related Peugeot 3008, as shown in our speculative renderings. More importantly, it’s likely to retain Citroen’s signature comfort-oriented chassis setup, staying true to the brand’s core values.

We’ll get all the details on this new concept at the Paris Auto Show 2024, taking place from October 14 to October 20. In addition to the concept, Citroen will unveil facelifted versions of the C4 and C4 X crossovers, showcase the C3 and C3 Aircross, and announce updates for the Ami heavy quadricycle.
