• Acura had a less than stellar September as sales fell 21.7% from a year ago.
  • All models posted declines with the exception of the ZDX, which is new to the lineup.
  • The premium brand appears to be blaming the disappointing result on a combination of fewer selling days and work at their Marysville plant.

The carpocalypse continues to rear its ugly head and this time it appears to be hammering Acura sales. The big loser was the TLX, which racked up a mere 548 sales in the United States last month.

That’s a 55% drop from a year ago, but a spokesperson has previously chalked up the decline to a “significant reconfiguration of our Marysville Auto Plant.” Of course, a quick search online reveals 883 new models in stock, which would be almost two months of supply at September rates.

The Integra didn’t fare much better as sales plummeted over 45% from a year ago to 1,516 units. Acura said sales were “impacted by preparation for EV production in Ohio,” but there appears to be 2,625 new cars in inventory. That, once again, is almost two months of supply at current rates, but it’s worth noting there were three less selling days compared to this time last year.

Regardless of what caused the declines, the electric ZDX outsold the TLX by a considerable margin. The GM-built crossover generated 979 sales last month and that’s on par with the 1,003 units sold in August.

Acura said the result meant the ZDX was the third best-selling crossover in the premium midsize segment. However, it was trounced by the Cadillac Lyriq which generated 7,224 sales in the third quarter and that amounts to 2,408 per month.

Unfortunately, there weren’t any bright spots for Honda’s premium brand as MDX and RDX sales were off by 25.4% and 15.5%, respectively. However, Acura was quick to point out RDX sales are up for the year and the updated 2025 model is now arriving at dealerships.
