• Bestop will use the SEMA Show to introduce a power retractable soft top for the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco.

The Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler are tons of fun, but the same can’t be said about their soft tops which can be a bit of a hassle to put up and take down. However, Bestop is addressing that with a power retractable roof known as the eTop.

Set to be launched on November 8, the eTop aims to “give off-road enthusiasts the ultimate convenience in soft top operation.” Like in a conventional convertible, the eTop can be raised or lowered in a matter of seconds at the push of a button.

The company didn’t say a lot about the roof, but it features laser cut steel linkages as well as electric motors that are expected to last at least 10,000 cycles. The eTop has triple-layer fabric with an outer layer that is “chemically coated to be water-repellant and UV resistant.” The roof also features vinyl windows that are tinted to 27% to provide privacy and protection from the sun.

The eTop is the result of Bestop’s acquisition of myTop and the roof will come with a 24 month warranty. There’s no word on pricing, but myTop has the Bronco’s roof listed at $4,995. The company also charges the same price for the Wrangler’s roof and one is apparently in the works for the Gladiator.

We can expect to learn more details at the SEMA Show next week, but Bestop said there will be “OEM options and aftermarket models designed for easy installation by professional installers or DIY enthusiasts.”
